How To Adjust To The Upcoming Single Use Vape Ban

If you’ve started vaping recently, or have even been doing so for quite some time, it’s quite possible you’ll have relied exclusively on single-use e-cigarettes. They can be very handy because you don’t have to learn how to refill cartridges, and you can just pop in a shop and get them whenever you feel the need.

However, this won’t be possible for much longer, as the sale of single-use vapes will be banned from the start of June. If you buy some before then - and there will no doubt be some big discounted clearance sales - you will still be able to use them after June 1st, but reputable suppliers will not be able to sell you disposable vapes.

Why The Ban Is Being Imposed?

The reasons for the ban are varied. One concern is that it makes vaping too accessible for kids, who are attracted not just by the bright colours and sweet flavours of vapes, but the ease of use that single-use vapes offer, making it easy for them to start.

While some would contend that the right way to tackle that is to enforce the law properly against rogue sellers (who are, after all, the very same traders who would be in trouble for selling single-use vapes after May 31st) there are other concerns about the fact that these items are often not being disposed of properly.

This is a concern not just because of the unsightliness of littering or the high plastic content (and we all know how much of an issue that is when it ends up washed out into the sea), but the fact that they contain lithium batteries, which are extremely flammable. It’s also a huge waste of a precious mineral that will be vital for efforts to switch cars to electric.

These littering issues have been a major motivation for those campaigning for a ban, especially in Scotland, where a single-use ban comes in earlier, on April 1st.

What Can You Do?

While these may be the reasons behind the ban, the key question is what you should do if you currently rely on single-use vapes. You need to be prepared by the end of May (or sooner in Scotland).

A drastic option might be to try to give up vaping, but the best approach is to start trying refillables and buying vape juice products, which come in compact 10ml bottles and provide you with the usual nicotine you are used to.

It may take a little time to get used to this new way of vaping, but rest assured that the process is very straightforward and requires minimal practice, especially if you opt for a pod kit. These kits are great for beginners since they combine the coil and tank into one unit making the refilling process very simple.

If you’re not familiar with reusable vapes, it may help that the new law banning single-use devices has a specific definition of what a reusable vape is. They must follow these two rules: contain a rechargeable battery and possess the ability to be refilled using prefilled-pods or vape juice.

The definition goes on to point out that the prefilled-pods or other containers of vape juice must be available to purchase as separate products.

When Should You Start?

What this means, quite simply, is that there is a way you can go on vaping after the ban comes in. The question is, how do you adjust and when?

You could buy a load of single use vapes in late May and learn to use refillables when they run out. But why not make it an easier process and start learning now? It really isn’t difficult to get the hang of it.

Another benefit of learning ahead of the ban will be that if you live in another part of the UK and visit Scotland in April or May, you will be equipped to keep yourself vaping even though you won’t be able to pick up any single-use devices in the shops up there.

There will be no going back once the ban comes in. There are those who would like to see vaping restricted as heavily as smoking, but this new law that curbs the problems of littering, plastic waste and underage vaping could well take the wind out of the sails of the anti-vaping lobby.

In the meantime, you can do more than just learn how to use vape refills. You can try different flavours and mixes to find just what you like. You may even find combinations that you enjoy more than any single-use vape you may be already used to.

Company Director

My career in the vape industry started back in 2015 when the technology was still young. Back then I was part of a small team which ran a couple of local vape retail shops in our hometown of Bolton where we offered genuine, quality products at affordable prices, helping people make the switch from smoking cigarettes to a healthier and more affordable alternative.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of dealing with many of our amazing customers, hearing their stories and getting to know them on a personal level. As I have been vaping for over 10 years, I know the value and benefits of using the right products and listening to what our customers need.

My priority is to always offer honesty in everything that we do at UK Vape Scene and to always put the customer first. I have learnt a lot over the years and I spend a lot of time researching new and innovative products, keeping our business in line with the latest legislation and developing new ways for us to expand our services whilst maintaining our original principles of offering a fair, honest service and nothing but the best products.
