Imran's story begins behind the wheel of a private hire taxi. For 15 years, he drove clients around, but in 2011, a desire to quit smoking sparked a new direction. A keen footballer, he recognised how smoking was sapping his stamina and resolved to make a change.

“My first vape pen was frustrating,” Imran recalls. “The devices leaked, the liquids were high in PG, and the flavours were underwhelming”. Dissatisfied but determined, he started experimenting with e-liquids and vape devices, keen to improvise, and at one point using his wife's makeup cotton for early coil builds.

The turning point came in 2015, when a relative's e-liquid venture inspired Imran to create his own. Armed with determination and a small loan from his father, he collaborated with a factory in Preston to craft his first flavours.

Six months of brainstorming led to the name “Doozy”, an old American slang term meaning “extraordinary”. The name was more than fitting—it captured Imran's mission to create liquids that were truly “a cut above the rest.”

Some of the earliest flavours (such as Golden Elixir) remain best-sellers to this day. Liquid Gold, a rich custard and vanilla dessert blend, earned its name after Imran tried it and declared it irresistible.

“People don't buy just one bottle—they stock up in bulk!” he says. Golden Elixir, a serendipitous mix of tobacco and dessert notes, was born out of a happy accident during Imran's early experiments.

Overcoming Challenges

Building a brand from scratch came with its share of obstacles. In the early days, a clash with a prominent vaping reviewer led to a controversial online campaign against Doozy. Despite the drama, Imran persevered, refining his products and building relationships with retailers and distributors.

Today, Doozy is a household name in the vaping industry, with an extensive range of flavours that cater to every palate. The company is also preparing for potential changes in taxation, introducing long-fill options and expanding their range to suit evolving market demands.
