Set-up and First Impressions:

The Aspire Pixo comes packaged in a slick box that presents its contents neatly and securely. For the purposes of this review I have been given the “Beige” variant which comes in a muted colour tone with a classy-looking pattern etched underneath its smooth exterior.

There is a brushed aluminium trim around the body of the kit that further solidifies the impression that this is a quality product.

My experience setting up the Aspire Pixo pod kit was as straight forward and unremarkable as any other pod vape I have dealt with these past couple of years; it was only later that the Pixo began to impress me. After taking the kit out of the box and filling the included 1.0 ohm pod with nic salt e-liquid, I started to fiddle around with the settings and touchscreen...

The Touchscreen:

This is by no means the first vape kit to offer a touch capacitive screen. However, though it may not be a pioneer in this sense, it certainly implements this feature better than most.

To prevent accidental inputs via the touchscreen, I first had to activate the menu with 3 quick presses of the power button. From there I was able to navigate the menu by scrolling and tapping the items like you would with an iPhone. The screen is responsive and vibrant, which to be honest was more than I was expecting of a vape device priced at only £28.99.

It lets you access a lot of the features you would expect, like Puff Count and Power Modes, and it also gives you the option to play around with a few customisation options and advanced features that I've never seen before, which is a nice touch.

Customisation and Advanced Features:

The Aspire Pixo caught my attention for its wide range of customisability options; there are three themes to choose from as well as three “vaping animations” to pick from. This does add a layer of personalisation that you don't get out of most pod kits that feature a screen (or at least not to this degree).

What really intrigued me however is the “Puff Record” feature that not only shows you your overall puff count, but also tracks your vaping activity throughout the day with a handy little graph. Very cool!

The Pixo also comes with haptic feedback (vibration) that activates while adjusting the settings. By default the vibration is turned on, however it can be turned down (along with the brightness of the screen). Adjusting the wattage on the Aspire Pixo Pod Kit is done quite simply, by swiping down on the screen twice and tapping the “+” or “-” symbols accordingly.

Vaping Experience:

Once I tuned in my desired wattage (I find 15 watts using the included 1.0 pod works best) I began to vape using our brand of Ultimate Nerd Salts as a benchmark (Blue Sour Raspberry Ice, 10mg).

The flavour output was perfectly clear, and the notes and aromas of the juice where captured well thanks to the high-quality mesh coil. The mouthpiece is rather wide which makes drawing on it quite comfortable.

After vaping this kit for a while I wanted to adjust the airflow to a looser MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) draw, which is done through a sliding mechanism on the side. I found that the airflow switch can be rather stiff to operate which made it somewhat difficult.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Responsive, high resolution screen
  • Packed full of user friendly features
  • Shedloads of customisation and adjustment options
  • Solid build quality that looks and feels premium

Cons:

  • It takes more force than expected to adjust the airflow

Conclusion and Recommendation:

Overall, the Aspire Pixo refillable vape carves itself into an interesting niche within the heavily saturated pod kit market. I'd recommend the Pixo for those looking for a sturdy and reliable kit which also gives you the freedom of vaping your own way. For only £28.99 too, you'll be hard-pressed to find a comparable alternative at this price point!
